DIY - how to sew table napkins

The art of receiving guests, the art of the table! We all like to welcome our guests with a pretty table decoration. Here's my tip for sewing these napkins yourself. I've added a decorative stitch and frayed the edges to achieve this beautiful effect.

How to sew your table napkins?

Before sewing your napkins, wash your fabric in the washing machine. Then go to the iron and cut out a 50x50cm square. Tip: Pull a thread to obtain a perfect square and cut along it to make it perfectly straight.

Take an erasable marker and draw an inner margin 2cm from the edges. Sew a decorative stitch following the line.

Fray the fabric on all 4 sides to obtain a fringe close to the decorative stitch.

That's it, you have a hand-sewn napkin! All you have to do now is make a pretty napkin fold to decorate your table... And do it all over again, so you don't make any of your guests jealous ;-)

What fabrics should you choose for sewing your napkins?

Let's look at the practical and aesthetic aspects. Cotton is the most conventional and appropriate choice because it's fairly absorbent and pleasant to the touch.

Linen is also popular because it's a natural material. A linen napkin may be a little less soft than a cotton one, but it will look much better!

Both linen and cotton are ideal for their breathability and durability. Your napkins will be easy to care for and can withstand frequent machine washing.
